Building Confidence With Your Natural Hair

Hello lovelies! Nowadays there are many women joining the Natural Hair Movement and it’s beautiful! However, I see so many of us aren’t comfortable wearing our hair out and/or are insecure about it. Today I just want to share some tips with those who wish to gain confidence with their hair and even with themselves. In high school I struggled with low self esteem especially when it came to my hair because at the time being natural wasn’t as socially acceptable as it now. My mother would not let me get a perm so I had to find a way to deal with it and accept it for what it was. I used to get called all types of names but I got to a point where I was tired of trying to get approval from people by wearing my hair some type of way. Even now I sometimes struggle with this with hair and in life but as I am discovering and working on myself I see that its pointless because people will always have something to say. So accept yourself for who you are and how you were made. Accept that you can’t change the hair pattern you were born with (unless you alter it by chemical means). I know you want that 3c curl pattern but honey you need to embrace that 4z and work with what you have. I hear so many women say “How do I get my hair like yours” or “I cant wait till my curls get like that”. I am sorry to say can’t, and I mean this in the most sincere way possible. Everybody’s hair is different, you just have to love yours!

Accept that everyone isn’t going to like you or the way you wear your hair..that’s why you have to do it for you! You’re going to have haters regardless of what you do. Accept your organic self and the decision you made to be natural.Whether you are rocking a TWA (Teeny Weeny Afro) or waist length hair, flaunt it because you own it! Work it girl! Wear styles that make you feel and look good. This includes protective styles; this is wear you apply the “Fake it till you make it” concept. There’s nothing wrong with wearing protective styles for a little while or just until you feel comfortable wearing your own hair out. Do what works for you!

I hope this encourages you ladies to be comfortable with your kinks and show them off carelessly regardless of who is watching ❤

Post a pic below with your crown or name one thing you like most about your hair!
